The Unauthorized Scandal on USS Manchester

A U.S. Navy Chief named Grisel Marrero was demoted after she authorized the installation of an unauthorized Starlink satellite dish on the USS Manchester, a littoral combat ship, to access the internet for personal use like scrolling social media, checking sports scores, and watching movies. This incident took place before a deployment in April 2023, costing $2,800. Marrero attempted to conceal the installation, renamed the network to disguise it, and even intercepted queries about it. She was found guilty of dereliction of duty and providing false statements to commanders at a court-martial in March of an unspecified year, resulting in her demotion.
