The first commercially cloned pet was born

The research and technology that led to Little Nicky’s birth and the dawn of commercial cat cloning was pioneered in partnership with Texas A&M (who also received money from Sperling) and the first cloned cat in 2001. This cat was called CC (CopyCat/Carbon Copy). A problem in the cloning meant that she had a different fur color from her donor but was otherwise healthy and died aged 18 in 2020.
