Cooking Quest VIP - Level 25 to Level 26 - October 2024
~~~~~ What is Cooking Quest? ~~~~~
Cooking Quest takes place in your typical medieval world where all recipes (cooking) has been lost. The player is then embarked on a quest to rediscover cooking and spread this around the world, getting rich in the process.
In the process, you hire heroes to gather ingredients and hire cooks to do the actual cooking while the player sells the delicious meals.
~~~~~ Is Cooking Quest Pay to Win? What about in-game advertisements? How many are there? How intrusive are they? Do you get anything for enduring them? ~~~~~
So far, we've encountered only one mandatory ad, mostly as a quest to show how it can be done. We suspect that watching these ads and/or paying money will speed things up and that one can play the full game as a free-to-play player.
~~~~~ Is There Any Objectionable Material in this game? ~~~~~
Heroes do defeat monsters using swords. This content is not central to the game and even watching this, this feels cartoony, seeing how the monsters are sugar cubes.
We do not feel that this is a reason to not play this game.
~~~~~ Is Cooking Quest fun to play? Is the game challenging? Is this game a grind? ~~~~~
After 30 minutes, we feel we are just starting to learn the game. We like the idea of cooking being the main theme of a long quest game instead of just killing random monsters.
We have not found this game to be challenging - yet. We suspect that may come later on.
We have not found this game to be a grind - yet. We suspect the cooking time to increase and the ingredient count per dish to increase making this game more of a grind.
(October 2024 - We just find this game to be a little too confusing. Where can we get the ingredients for recipes? This feels like a click-fest but only to change screens and not do any real progress.)
~~~~~ What are the pros and cons of Cooking Quest? ~~~~~
Pros:
Different type of Explore-the-World adventure game.
Graphics reminiscent of early console games.
Feels like an old school computer game instead of an app.
Cons:
Cloud save preferred.
Can get a bit boring. Ok - pretty boring.
Lots of clicking.
Bottom Line:
This game will interest players who want a more deep experience than a match 3, jigsaw puzzle or Tetris-type of game. School-aged children can pick this game up and include it in their collection of games. Just don't be surprised if this game does not hold their interest for too long.
