It was not David's greatness that preceded his realised destiny as king of Israel, but his MEEKNESS.

Our worldly strength and the strength of our Adamic nature must be exchanged for the 'weakness' of Christ. (1 Cor 1:25)

Our desire for self advancement (pride), self gratification (lust), and self preservation (fear) must be surrendered to the flames of Christ's love. This is the way of meekness. "Now the man, Moses, was very meek, more than all the people who were on the face of the earth." (Num 12:3)
