The United States has launched an urgent investigation into the leaking of classified documents describing an American assessment of Israel's plans to attack Iran.

The top secret files are said to describe satellite imagery showing Israel moving military assets in preparation for a response to Iran's ballistic missile attack back on 1 October.

It has separately also been reported that the UK may tacitly support the move to strike back against Iran in a measured fashion, though no official such backing has been made public by the government.
