Just wrapped up a tasting of Ferncullen, a single malt from the Powerscourt Estate in Ireland, coming in at 92 proof. Priced around $40-45, it has a pale color and thin legs, suggesting youth. On the nose, I found lots of floral and honey notes, giving it a strong but enjoyable scent, earning a 3. The taste is smooth yet slightly bitey, with floral fruitiness and a honey sweetness that lingers, also scoring a 3. The finish is clean and medium in length, reinforcing the honey notes. Overall, I rated it a solid 3 out of 5—definitely a whiskey I'd enjoy if offered and wouldn’t hesitate to add to my collection if I came across it.
