Rise Up Anthem - Voices of Neurodiversity
There’s a storm behind those eyes,
Tidal waves that I can’t calm tonight.
You’re screaming, but the words are locked inside,
You’re lost in a world where you can’t find the light.
The room spins, and we hold our breath,
Walking on the edge of your unrest.
I try to reach you, but the walls are too high,
You’re fighting a battle in your mind, within a bobble, I’m standing by.
And I’d give the world just to see you clear,
But right now, it’s the chaos I fear.
When you crash, when you break,
I’m here to shield the fallout in your wake.
When the tantrums rage, and you can’t escape,
I’ll move mountains just to keep you safe.
I’ll break the silence, hold back the tide,
Protect the fragile world where you reside.
Though the fear may take us both tonight,
I’ll stand beside you, we will shine your light.
The noise gets louder, nothing makes sense,
You push, you pull, your mechanism of defense.
Hyper or Hypo-sensitivity, a fragile heart caught in a hurricane,
Searches for shelter in this rain of pain.
I move the sharp things, clear the way,
Just trying to keep the hurt at bay.
But in your wild eyes, I see more than just the storm,
Not a threat, Sensory Processing Disorder, trying to stay warm.
And I’d give myself just to hear your voice,
But this battle isn’t your choice.
When you crash, when you break,
I’m here to shield you from the fallout in your wake.
Proprioceptive dysregulation, rage you can’t escape,
I’d cross any distance to ensure you're safe,
I’ll shatter the silence, let all the pain cease,
And guard your tender world so that you find release.
Though despair, anguish, pain, may take us both tonight,
I’ll stand beside you, we’ll make it through — shine your light!!!!
There’s glass beneath our feet,
And expressive language deficits every heartbeat.
But I won’t let them tear us apart,
I’ll hold you close, no matter how situations can make it dark.
In this war, you’re not alone,
This is our fight, we’ll make it home.
Cognitive overload, unpredictable noises, the world’s too fast,
Routine’s your refuge, but it never lasts.
You’re locked inside, behind a fragile wall,
Transitions break you, and the pieces fall.
Communication’s trapped, frustration’s scream,
I’m here to help, but it’s harder than it seems.
Desensitize the noise, step by step,
In your fight-or-flight, I take a breath.
And I’d give the world just to see you clear,
But right now, it’s the chaos I fear.
[Chorus 1 - repeating]
Perfection, Is not what we pursue, it’s just the fight!!!
Enough is enough, still, as far as your future is concerned, it’s non-negotiable, right?
We’re not here to mask the pain we’ve known,
But to turn it into strength, where hope has grown.
Through every single note, we claim our ground,
A melody of struggle is structured, arranged, yet peace is found.
In this neurodiverse space, defying the odds, we stand tall,
Crafting art, we build our shield through it all.
And I’d trade treasures, just to see you whole,
But for now, it’s the chaos, turmoil, that takes its toll.
When I crash, when I break,
I’m begging for a lifeline I can take.
When the weight’s too much, in my soul, something out there aches,
Is there someone who can mend what breaks?
I’ve held it all,
I’ve stayed so strong
But in this storm, I feel like I won't last long.
I’m searching for hope, I’m calling out,
Can somebody hear me now?
I won’t drop out.
Jesus, would you hear me now?
Help me Lord… I won’t drop out.
And I’d trade all the treasures, precious things, just to see you whole,
But for now, it’s the chaos, turmoil, that takes its toll.
When I crash, when I break,
I’m begging for a lifeline I can take.
When the weight’s too much, my soul bleeds, something out there aches,
Please, is there someone who can mend what breaks???
I’ve held it all,
I’ve stayed so strong
But in this storm, no way, I think I won't last long.
I’m searching for hope, I’m calling out,
Would I find someone to hear me now? I won’t drop out.
Jesus, would you hear me now?
We’ll rise, we’ll rise, even through the fight,
With love that never bends and never says goodbye.
I’ll stand beside you, we will shine your light,
Together, we’ll make your beautiful light shine bright.
We’ll rise, we’ll rise, even through the rage,
There’s a God who watches us, never turning the page.
He stands beside you, guiding us through His truly light,
I’ll stand beside you until we shine it bright.
We’ll rise, we’ll rise, even through the storm,
With resilient love, we’ll weather and transform.
I’ll stand beside you, your light will lead the way,
We are not alone, I feel His strength each day.
No matter our path leads through the valley of the shadow of death, He’ll guard us still,
And I’ll stand beside you, no matter how deep the havoc may spill.
We’ll rise, we’ll rise, even through sorrow, despair, or pain,
Humbled and bent, but anchored by faith, we’ll fill the thirst with rain.
Hand in hand with God, we shall walk over waters,
We’ll brave any shadows; our spirit exceeds what shatters.
