‘Tools Iran Couldn’t Produce Hit…’ What Israel Achieved Or Didn’t With Its ‘Limited’ Attack On Iran
Israel's airstrikes on Iran have sparked a wave of reports regarding their impact on Tehran. While some sources assert that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has effectively dismantled Iran's missile capabilities, others contend that the attacks failed to impart a significant lesson to the Iranian government. These strikes were in retaliation for an earlier missile attack from Iran on October 1, during which over 200 missiles were launched at Tel Aviv.
The Israeli military confirmed that three waves of airstrikes targeted missile factories and other vital sites in western Iran. According to Hebrew news outlet Walla, the IAF struck a dozen sites critical for producing solid fuel for long-range ballistic missiles. Israeli sources noted that the facilities contained equipment imported from China, crucial for Iran's missile programme.
An American researcher claimed that one of the strikes hit a building linked to Iran's defunct nuclear weapons development programme. David Albright reported on X that Israel targeted the Taleghan 2 facility in Parchin, which was involved in missile solid fuel mixing. Albright suggested that Iran may have removed key materials before the attack.
The Israeli operation reportedly damaged several missile production sites, including Khojir, where significant expansion was noted in recent months. An independent Arabic newspaper reported that Israel also destroyed a secret ballistic missile factory. Despite these claims, Iran's military stated that the strikes caused limited damage, affecting mainly radar systems, and called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
The United Nations atomic energy watchdog confirmed that Iran's nuclear programme remained unaffected by the airstrikes. Israel’s campaign early on October 26 was described as a response to attacks from Iran and its proxies. Four Iranian soldiers were reportedly killed during the operations, with Iran vowing to defend against Israeli aggression. The extent of the damage remains under investigation as both sides present differing accounts of the impact of the strikes.
