The Meteora monasteries

The Meteora monasteries are a group of Eastern Orthodox monasteries built on top of massive rock pillars in Thessaly, Greece. This UNESCO World Heritage site is located near the town of Kalambaka and is one of the most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece, second only to Mount Athos.
