Why is it called the World Series?

Why is American baseball called the World Series?
the original series was actually called the World's Series because it was sponsored by a newspaper called The World. That was in the 1880s. When the series was revived just after 1900, the adopted they name Who wrote the World newspaper? The World is most closely associated with publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who purchased the newspaper in 1883.
