Black Bobs Stell

Black Bob was a fictional Border Collie Sheepdog. The heroic dog and his shepherd Andrew Glenn originally appeared in The Dandy comic in 1944, continuing until the 1970s.

A ‘stell’ or drystone enclosure for sheep, has been created by the ‘Black Bob Heritage Group’, on the north side of the Ettrick Water, close to the Philipburn Hotel. A short ‘Spirit of Black Bob’ walk has been set out, funded by the Scottish Borders Council and leading to the stell, which is a place to sit down and learn more about Black Bob.
