Labour wage deception

The Labour government is celebrating a rise in the minimum wage to £12.21 an hour, but let’s be clear: this is NOT a living wage. A single person needs £28,000 a year for an acceptable standard of living. The new rate leaves them £3,000 short. Couples with kids face an even bigger shortfall!
Despite this, the right-wing media is spinning it as a mega inflation-busting hike. But instead of real change, we got more neoliberal dogma that fails to address the root of poverty pay. A bold budget would’ve focused on fiscal stimulus to repair our crumbling infrastructure and public services, creating real jobs and lifting wages. We deserve better!
