COMPLETION OF MISSION AND PREPARATIONS FOR FURTHER OPERATIONS BY THE 98TH DIVISION IN GAZA STRIP

The 98th Division has successfully completed its mission in the Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah areas of the southern Gaza Strip after approximately a month of operations, both above ground and underground. During this mission, over 250 terrorists were eliminated, and numerous terrorist infrastructures were destroyed.

The Yahalom Unit, in collaboration with the 7th Brigade and the Paratroopers Brigade, identified and destroyed six underground tunnels spanning around 6 kilometers. These tunnels contained terrorist hideouts and weapons, and in some cases, terrorists were neutralized inside.

The 7th Brigade was specifically active in Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, where they discovered weapons, dismantled dozens of ambushes, and destroyed terrorist compounds. The 77th Battalion carried out a raid on a major Hamas outpost in Deir al-Balah, uncovering weapons, a rocket launcher, and intelligence documents. With the Yahalom Unit's support, they also detected and demolished a tunnel that was part of the terrorist combat network.

The Paratroopers Brigade operated in both the Hamad area of western Khan Yunis and the eastern part of the city. They conducted missions in densely populated areas, including multi-story buildings.

In a joint operation with the Yahalom Unit, the Paratroopers Brigade successfully recovered and repatriated the bodies of hostages Yagev Buchshtab z”l, Alexander Dancyg z”l, Avraham Munder z”l, Yoram Metzger z”l, Nadav Popplewell z”l, and Haim Perry z”l to Israel.

With this mission completed, the 98th Division is now preparing for further operations in the Gaza Strip.
