Imagine you’re a parent of a 16-year-old, fiercely independent, living on her own for the first time. You get a call from her employer saying she missed her shift—a rare occurrence. You check on her, only to make a horrifying discovery: your daughter, blindfolded and gagged, lies deceased in her own bathtub. Now, imagine spending 39 years searching for the truth about who did this to her. In part 2 of this episode, I'm joined by Detective Hilary Gordon, who has spent years pursuing justice for Sharon "Lecia” Shollmeyer, tragically murdered in her Salt Lake City apartment in 1977.

With few leads and minimal forensic technology back then, this case became an enduring mystery. In our conversation, Detective Gordon shares the challenges of working on cold cases, the emotional toll on families, and the recent breakthroughs that finally provided answers in this case.
