Before the idea of a Dark Universe was birthed, Universal wanted to create an updated version of 1941's The Wolf Man to bring modern make-up and visual effects to the character. Benicio Del Toro, a huge fan of the original signed on to produce as well as star in the lead role.

Despite Oscar award worthy effects, the film was not received well. We try to find anything nice to say about 2010's The Wolfman.
