Is John Mark Comer Practicing the Way or Practicing a Way?

Did the Son of God incarnate to teach spiritual disciplines or to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world? Was His intention to model Eastern metaphysical meditation and contemplative prayer practices for His followers and have them handed down to us? In her article, “JOHN MARK COMER’S PRACTICING THE WAY OR PRACTICING A WAY? AN EVALUATION,” Marcia Montenegro writes: “Comer’s theme is that Christians must pursue the “practices of Jesus,” or the “Way of Jesus,” which are the spiritual disciplines. However, there is no evidence that the spiritual disciplines as taught by Comer and others are taught in Scripture, nor are meditation and prayer modeled in Scripture anything like what is taught by Contemplatives.” Has Comer, like so many other Contemplatives, missed the core teachings of Scripture regarding Jesus?
