I spoke with Maria Butina, a member of the Russian State Duma's International Affairs Committee and a former U.S. political prisoner, about her political work for the Russian government and her role as a State Duma member. We discussed her involvement in the "Move to Russia from the West" program, "Moya Rossiya," and how it has helped many people from Western countries relocate to Russia, along with its notable achievements.

We also explored why many people are choosing to move to Russia, why it is seen as an emerging destination for the future, and how it is entering a "golden era."

Additionally, Maria shared her experience of persecution in 2018 when she was convicted of acting as an unregistered foreign agent and was subsequently imprisoned for 18 months, including four harrowing months in solitary confinement. She recounted the terrible conditions she endured in the U.S. prison system and the horrors of that experience
