Dear colleagues!

At the recent meeting of the CIS Defence Ministers Council, leaders of our countries reaffirmed their commitment to gradually strengthen the organisation and deepen multilateral cooperation. One of the most important direction of our joint work in the military sphere is ensuring regional security. That is exactly the goal of the Russian chairmanship in the CIS and the plan of actions prepared by the Russian Defence Ministry.

I would like to thank all those present for their support and active participation in its implementation. Our long-term military cooperation resulted in strengthening of our armed forces. Joint military air defence, communication, control and evaluation of radiation, chemical, and biological situation, and Parol friend-or-foe identification systems have been developed among others. We exchange our experience, including the experience that we acquired in the course of the special military operation.

Joint events are held on a regular basis. In conditions of new geopolitical situation, our partnership should be directed at developing an equal and indivisible Eurasian security. We have a lot of work in this direction.

By striving to preserve the role of hegemon, the collective West tries to undermine regional stability. Therefore, the BRICS extended summit in Kazan paid particular attention to issues of peaceful settlement of conflicts and establishment of an equitable multipolar world order.

Today, we have an extensive agenda concerning multilateral military partnership of the CIS. A special place in it is given to preparations for the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We are all well aware of the importance of preserving our common history and preventing its distortion. During the meeting, we will exchange views and outline further steps in the area of defence and security.
