Chapter 11 Secrets at the diner: Trust is earned

Sensing an opportunity, Stavros offered to take the flash drive off their hands, hinting that it could help deflect some of the heat. But Chad, not willing to let go of the only leverage they had, lied and said he didn’t have it. Stavros wasn’t convinced but didn’t push. Instead, he offered them a safe house where they could lay low for a while. Chad hesitated, knowing they couldn’t run forever, but without any clear alternative, he agreed to consider it, all the while keeping the real weight of what they had hidden from Stavros.
