Stormy struggles to make sense of Malachi’s presence, uncertain how she can trust that he won’t harm witches in today’s world. Malachi, sensing her doubt, insists that he’s changed. He speaks of redemption, explaining how time has given him a broader understanding of magic and the people he once hunted. He admits to seeking atonement, even though Stormy wasn’t one of his direct victims. He now views magic with a more liberal mindset, realizing the harm his past actions caused and hoping for a chance to make things right, if only she could give him that chance.
