Trail Riders is a 1942 American Western film directed by Robert Emmett Tansey. The film is the eighteenth in Monogram Pictures' "Range Busters" series, and it stars John "Dusty" King as Dusty, "Davy" Sharpe and Max "Alibi" Terhune, with Evelyn Finley, Forrest Taylor and Charles King.
Synopsis
In the 17th film of Monogram's "Range Buster" series, Texas ranch owner Conroy returns from Washington with orders to ship horses to the Philippines. The Range Busters—Dusty, Davy, and Alibi—are chosen to transport the horses. Before their departure, they capture three spies trying to steal the horses and discover that their cook, Cookie, is a Japanese spy who manages to escape.
Once in the Philippines, the Range Busters spot Cookie and a German spy named Miller in a café. Eavesdropping, they learn that Ken Richards, a neighboring Texas rancher, is an Axis contact back in the U.S. The group captures Cookie, dismantles the spy ring, and returns to Texas to confront Richards. They succeed in their mission and are honored by the U.S. Government just as the news breaks of the Pearl Harbor bombing on December 7, 1941. The film concludes with the Range Busters heading to enlist in the military.
