51. The Olivet Discourse (part 2: Mark 13:9-23)

Having warned of coming disruptions in the world based on political upheavals and natural disasters, Jesus then turned to the disruptions that would also confront his followers during the same years, warning of persecutions and hostility, both from society and even from family. He then focused on the events that would immediately precede the destruction of the Jerusalem temple, referring to the well-known expression taken from Daniel's prophecy, the 'abomination of desolation.'
