VISITING A FAVELA IN RIO DE JANEIRO!

Finally we had the opportunity to visit a favela in Brazil. In this video we visit the Rocinha favela which is one of the most well known favelas in Rio, Brazil and also South America. Before the tour we had a lot of mixed feelings; a combination of excitement, fear and curiosity! We had an idea about what to expect, but the experience and the tour definitely surpassed our expectations. Rocinha is a very interesting place and full of extremes and contrasts. Our tour started with a very exciting motorcycle ride to go to the top of the hill where there is a view point and then walking our way down the streets and allies through the favela. Rocinha is a place that if you can visit, you should definitely visit it. We also wanted to do this video to show everyone that favelas are not just about criminals. Yes crime exists inside the favela like any other part of the city, but there is also art, community, progress, cooperation and hope that also makes a favela what it is. We really enjoyed visiting Rocinha and we hope you enjoy the video too :)
