the exceptional American papaw

This one is a phone turner…. and unfortunately as far as I know, none of these 3 trees survived. I received a refund. When purchasing bare root trees, occasionally they do not survive. When purchasing bare root pawpaw trees, and attempting to plant in zone 4, the survivability goes down even more. One mistake I made here was not providing immediate shade. I planted in summer in direct sunlight. Pawpaw is an undercanopy tree at first, and it grows slowly waiting for a canopy tree to die before being exposed to full sun. Now I know. But these trees could have also been dead on arrival. It’s always about the experience. Soul growth. Soul’s gold….. Anyways, if you're interested, here's a splurge on pawpaw from wikipedia:
