“YouTube Shorts Issues Fixed: How to Stop 3-Minute Videos from Uploading as Shorts”

We fixed the issues with our videos being uploaded as ‘Shorts’. We noticed that YouTube implemented this annoying change for 3 minute videos in mid October. What happened?

Tired of your YouTube uploads turning into default Shorts? Here’s how to ensure your videos upload as long-form content:

1.Make sure your video is longer than 3 minutes. Anything shorter and in a vertical or square aspect ratio automatically gets formatted as a Short.

2.Use the desktop or web version of YouTube if possible. The app sometimes defaults to Shorts for vertical videos and it is hard to tell.

3.Upload in landscape format (16 by 9). Vertical videos are more likely to be categorized as Shorts.

All those shorts were deleted from our account and we manually forced YT to upload in a non-Shorts format.
