Volcanic Activity

Scenes from a volcanic eruption in Sundhnúksgígar in Iceland that started on August 22, 2024. It was (and still is) the largest eruption in this particular series of volcanic activity that started in March 2021. It was eruption number 9 in the series and lasted for two weeks, leaving behind lava covering over 15.8 km2 (6.1 square miles).
