VMware Workstation: How to install Ubuntu (Beginners Guide)

With VMware Workstation Player (previously VMware Player), you can run whole operating systems on top of Windows or Ubuntu in a virtual machine. It looks like it's running on its own computer to the guest operating system, which is the one that runs within the virtual machine. The VMware Workstation Player, which gives the guest access to resources like the network, is executed by the host operating system. VMware offers a free download for it.
