A Conversation with three NARA Applied Research Partners

Thursday, May 5, 2011, College Park, MD - The National Archives Assembly sponsored a research forum featuring Dr. Peter Bajcsy (National Center for Supercomputing Applications), Dr. Maria Esteva (Texas Advanced Computing Center), and Dr. William Underwood (Georgia Tech Research Institute). Each partner gave an overview of their current research, highlighting how their projects contributed/intersected with each other within the areas of:

- Automated File Format Identification;
- Visualization/Data Mining Tools for large collections of electronic records;
- Automated conversion of electronic records,
- Automated validation/evaluation of record migrations;
- Decision support for review/redaction of sensitive information;
- File Format Libraries,
- Tools for locating relevant records in large collections; and
- NARA's collaboration with the National Archives of the UK on PRONOM/DROID.
