I found, in time, that the “issues” I had were not caused by my addiction……… only worsened by it
The core issues started way before I ever considered a drink.
My immaturity and inability to manage emotional/ social difficulties resulted in the search for a coping mechanism to make the life I had created tolerable. I found alcohol worked rather well.
When I flipped on the switch (alcoholism)…….My development ceased or was at least throttled significantly. When I flipped it back off, I then needed to develop those skills……… IN MY LATE 40’s!!!
Virtually NOTHING I learned while in active addiction was of any use to a sober life except for the memory and experience to remind me how NOT to live……
I needed to stop “trying” to be a good man in a storm……….
Until……… I was actually equipped to BE one.
This song , A Good Man in a Storm belongs to “Level 42”. I am using Finger method on a song that should be done with Slap method………. because I can’t “slap”!!
