On December 20, 2019, in Carrabelle, Florida, FBI Special Agent Alexis Hatten was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car by Franklin County deputies during a misunderstanding about his identity while investigating a complaint about police corruption. The incident, caught on bodycam, escalated when deputies doubted Hatten's legitimacy as a federal agent, partly due to a vehicle tag discrepancy and a mistaken appearance on a terrorist watch list. Despite identifying himself and displaying FBI credentials, Hatten was detained, leading to a review by the FBI.

On April 22, 2022, in Carson City, Deputy Francisco Torres wrongfully arrested DOJ Official Anton Iagounov for "Police Impersonation" after stopping his vehicle with Red/Blue lights, without establishing probable cause. A search revealing an FBI badge and a vehicle search without a warrant ensued, breaching the Fourth Amendment.
