Flying in a Quicksilver alongside 2 microlights over the Riviera Monaco on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, Thailand. I was surprised at its stability, probably due in part to its drag. Count Dragula. It was very easy to hold altitude. I was also surprised at the difficulty in speaking. At this moment I realized I had never tried to speak on a motorcycle at highway speed. When 50 knot wind enters the tiniest opening in your mouth, it dries the back of your throat out immensely and no sound comes out. Plus, if the microphone dipped below the bottom of the visor, the wind noise was too much to discern speech. On top of that, turning your head more than 45 degrees caused the flip-up visor to abruptly flip up. The microlight trikes had the same Rotax 582 powerplant but were way faster due to tandem seating and some semblance of a fuselage. The microlight trikes also have a pointed wing shape like a hang glider. In Thailand, the open cockpit provides perfect comfort, regardless of what you wear. When I had controls, I moved it around and no surprises. Don't mind the word, "EXPERIMENTAL" in all caps on the aircraft. That's how we po' folks roll. This is the closest you can get to Elliot on his flying bicycle.
