Meteors, often called "shooting stars," are composed of materials from asteroids or comets and generally fall into three categories: stony, iron, and stony-iron.
Stony meteors, the most common, are primarily made of silicate minerals like olivine and pyroxene, resembling terrestrial rocks.
Iron meteors consist mostly of iron and nickel, originating from the cores of differentiated asteroids, and are much denser.
Stony-iron meteors, the rarest type, are a mix of silicates and metals, often containing olivine crystals embedded in a metallic matrix.
These compositions provide critical insights into the early solar system, as meteors are considered remnants of its formative materials.
