Colossians – Talk #9

In this talk we discuss how Colossians 1:15–23 fits into the structure of Paul's flow of thought in this part of his letter. I argue that the typical, traditional reading of this passage—where traditional orthodox Christology is read into the passage—is not the most likely meaning of the passage insofar as it disregards the background and purpose of the letter as well as the structure of its discourse.
