After Disney acquired a number of Fox film and TV assets in 2019, Marvel Studios announced The Fantastic Four movie, which is set to follow one of Marvel's most well-known teams of superheroes. The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases on Friday, July 25, 2025, two weeks after James Gunn's Superman hits theaters. Official artwork for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has hinted at a period setting in the 1960s. Since the heroes haven't previously been mentioned in any MCU projects, it's been theorized The Fantastic Four will be set in another universe in the MCU multiverse.

What is known is the main cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Additionally, Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal aka Silver Surfer and Ralph Ineson will play the planet-devouring Marvel villain Galactus. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in undisclosed roles.
