Riding the Rhythm

"Riding the Rhythm" was born out of an unforgettable collaboration during the summer of 2003. I was in Los Angeles at the time, pulled into a whirlwind project with a team of DJs who were legends in the underground scene. The studio we worked in was an old converted warehouse, the kind of place where you could feel the vibrations of the city pulsing through the walls.

One night, after hours of experimenting with beats and synths, someone suggested we take a break. So, we hopped on a fleet of motorcycles parked out front. We rode along the Pacific Coast Highway, the ocean air whipping through our hair and the hum of engines syncing like a heartbeat beneath us. There was something primal about it—the freedom, the power, the connection to the moment. It was like the rhythm of the ride was its own kind of music.

Back at the studio, that ride became the seed of inspiration. We layered deep, throbbing basslines that mirrored the growl of the engines and added euphoric synths to capture the rush of wind and the open road. The lyrics, though sparse, came naturally: a love letter to the kind of freedom you only find when you're in motion, carried by the beat of the music—or the pulse of a machine.

We tested the track at a rooftop party in Venice Beach, and it was an instant hit. The crowd moved as if the rhythm had taken over their bodies, and I knew we had something special. "Riding the Rhythm" became a tribute to that perfect fusion of music, freedom, and adrenaline—an anthem for anyone who's ever felt unstoppable on the back of a bike or lost themselves on a dancefloor.
