When It's Time to Fight – Deut. Chpt. 20

One of Moses' responsibilities was to prepare the people to go to war. He had already led them in the march through the wilderness and up to the valley of Moab where they were preparing to cross the Jordan. Along the way, they mounted successful military campaigns against the kings on the west side of the river. But once they cross, it will be a whole new ball game.

We learned earlier in Deut. that Israel will face nations much larger and mightier than them. They will face giants. They go up against some of the most skilled warriors of the day. But Moses takes the opportunity in chpt. 20 to remind them of their 'secret weapon' as it were: Jehovah God. As long as they stick with God's plan, they will be victorious on every front. The lesson for today is pretty simple: when it's time to fight, stick with God's plan.
