The new drones are lighter and quieter with over 50,000 products available to be delivered to customers.
The program is being tested right now in Tolleson, Arizona, a city west of Phoenix.
"This is an historic, first-of-its-kind approval for a new drone system and a new operating location following a rigorous FAA evaluation of the safety of our systems and processes," Amazon said in the announcement.
The company has been working on their drone program for about 10 years.
Customers who order with drone delivery can see delivery times of less than an hour.
