Is Your Retirement Account Safe: The Risks of Target Date Retirement Funds

In this video we exam the history and risks of investing in target retirement funds such as the TIAA-CREF Life Cycle Funds, the Vanguard Target Date Funds, and the US government's Thrift Savings Plan's (TSP) L Funds. We show the the bond components of these funds are no longer good investments for the average 401(k) or 403(b) retirement plan participant. Better possible alternatives to investments in US government long term debt instruments are proposed.
