Reject: A Super Superhero Story (part 47)

*Once the battle of Houston wrapped up, Reject flew off for much needed rest. He found a neglected and forgotten island way out in the Pacific, a place uninhabited but only a quick hop or two to Hawaii whenever he needs supplies. Reject stocks up on as much alcohol as he can get his hands on, mostly stealing it yet promising himself to pay everything back one day. He just needs the release and to forget. His many years on earth had been spent staying far from any other super powered beings yet in the span of two days he'd pretty much announced himself to the world as a being of might to lookout for. There is no way he can go back to his once quiet and hidden life after defeating SuperDuperMan and most of the Just. Reject even knows well that if ever he leaves the island he has found someone will hunt for him for sure, so he drinks and drinks only to forget and after each bottle is done he launches it into the ocean in rage. He doesn't mean any harm, or even to pollute, he only is angry he's finished another escape of whiskey and is that much closer to having to steal again during a return trip to Hawaii. But though he means no harm, Reject has the misfortune of throwing every bottle right into the notice of DirLan. The one island he chose to escape to just happens to be an outpost right above an entrance to Merr, and even if that entrance is thousands of leagues beneath the waves of Rejects island it is a great offense to trash such a site. DirLan had been summoned beneath that island to hear from her father's elite Caretakers. These men are the bravest of Merr who live their lives deeper than any...down in the trenches of the abyss where even a child of Merr will be crushed if they are not in special armor. The Caretakers summoned DirLan to tell her that Leviathan was waking, something most of her family refuses to believe and they beg her to come home at last to join with those who do believe in order to perhaps sway her father to the truth. But DirLan refuses, upsetting the Caretakers greatly and it is then that Rejects trash is noticed and those Caretakers are upset all the more [AI Art]*
