(This is an excellent interview of Sergey Lavrov by Tucker Carlson. Lavrov's English is excellent and easy to understand. Lavrov has a deep understanding of the issues and strives to rationally explain the reality without 'spinning' things. While listening to him, it is easy to see why he is considered one of the top diplomats in the world. There is a lot to learn by either listening to the video or reading the transcript or doing both. Sergey Lavrov is the Foreign Minister of Russia. A veteran politician and diplomat, he has been an integral part in shaping Russia’s political and international ties with the world. He has been an essential member of the Russian government for decades, first as the Russian Representative to the United Nations and eventually as Foreign Minister of Russia since 2004. He has held a number of important positions throughout his career. Born in Moscow to an Armenian father and Russian mother, he has dedicated his life to making the Russian Federation, a dominant leader in the ever changing global politics. As a boy, he had a keen interest in learning physics, but after he graduated from high school he went onto study in the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He is a doting father and husband. When he is not conducting critical negotiations around the world, he spends his time playing and watching football games. He is one of the founders of the Russian national football league and he is also a major supporter of ‘Spartak’, the Moscow football team. He is the longest-serving Russian foreign minister since Andrei Gromyko during the Soviet Union. He received his first Soviet diplomatic posting in Sri Lanka, and speaks fluent Sinhala, Dhivehi, English, and French, in addition to his native Russian.
