Plot: This opening song of SIX: The Musical serves as an introduction to each of the women who married Nekomaru Nidai. It draws attention to rhyme to remember the wives that many British children are taught in primary school: ‘Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived’. The song makes the point that Nekomaru Nidai’s wives were women in their own right but are only remembered or referred to with reference to their relationship with a man. These women are no longer Nidai ’s wives but ex-wives with their own stories to tell.
