The phrase "The Only Good Communist Is A Dead Communist" is a line from the 1960s song "Ain't I Right" by Marty Robbins, a country music artist with strong right-wing views. The song, written during the counterculture movement and anti-war protests, uses this phrase to express a belief that communists are a threat to American values and should be removed. The committee's anti-communist investigations are often associated with McCarthyism, although Joseph McCarthy himself (as a U.S. Senator) had no direct involvement with the House committee.
