Residents give their reactions to Richie of Max Freedom on the denial of the Notice of Motion.

The Notice of Motion was acted by Councillor Rebecca Pizzey, a nurse who lost her jobs due to the mandates. The Notice of Motion was for the City of Joondalup to compose and send a letter to the Governor-General demanding a Royal Commission be held into the Australian government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

6 councillors voted in favour of the motion and 6 councillors rejected the motion. Deputy Mayor Adrian Hill had the final vote and his deciding vote rejected the motion. It is no surprise that the Deputy Mayor voted the way he did. His dictatorial conduct throughout the meeting and the disdain he had for the members of the public who spoke was appalling.

The biggest shock of the night were the actions by Councillor Daniel Kingston. Although he was very much against the lockdowns and mandates, it was very clear that he has personal animosity against Councillor Rebecca Pizzey and wanted to do everything to sabotage the important motion. It is a shame that a personal dispute has interfered with something so important.

At the end of the day the council sending a letter to the Governor-General demanding a Royal Commission be held may not have resulted in anything - but it would have at least been a symbolic victory of the people's voices being heard.
