Paintings In The Park, God Restores The First Amendment
11 months ago

In 1956 the downtown merchants of Ottawa, Illinois commissioned 16 large paintings depicting the life and ministry of Jesus Christ to be displayed in the public park during the Christmas season. Thirty year later, a complaint made by one person resulted in a court order that banished the paintings from the park in 1989.
This is the story of these paintings and the battle in Federal Court that reinforces the freedom of speech in the public forum for all Americans.
