Two Alaska State Troopers, Sgt. Joseph Miller and Trooper Jason Woodruff, are charged with "FELONY" assault after mistakenly arresting an innocent man in Kenai, using excessive force. After reviewing body-worn camera footage, the Alaska Department of Public Safety initiated a criminal investigation and placed both troopers on administrative leave.

The United Nations Committee against Torture reports that the use of Taser devices can be a form of torture, due to the acute pain they cause, and warns against the possibility of death in some cases. Taser CEWs may also not leave the telltale markings that a conventional beating might. The American Civil Liberties Union has also raised concerns about their use, as has the British human rights organization Resist Cardiac Arrest.
