My wife has developed cancer that is very rare in the tunnel of the spinal cord and spread throughout the brain. It started as breast cancer but spread to the brain and spinal cord and even after brain surgery to remove a big tumor the other 2 tumors that could not be removed with surgery continued to spread throughout the brain. The only golden standard they have is to do whole brain radiation and a spinal tap 10 times where they inject chemotherapy direct into the spinal cord. The problem with this is it is not effective. Studies have shown that the cancer comes back in the spinal tunnel 95 percent of the time and you can only do whole brain radiation one time in your lifetime. Most people don’t even want to do this because it really does not increase survival and the side effects are horrible. It can lead to dementia and major cognitive issues.
