On June 1, 2024, the 77th session of the World Health Assembly adopted amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR), increasing the powers of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the expense of the sovereignty of its constituent member states.
The amendments were adopted with blatant disregard for established protocol and procedures, completely ignoring the provisions under Article 55(2) of the IHR. If Poland does not object to or reject the amendments by April 1, 2025, they will come into force automatically. Since January 2024, the Parliamentary Group on the World Health Organization has been trying to make it possible to start a debate on the proposed regulatory changes. The conference “WHO - an introduction to the missing debate” was another attempt.
