Based on The Pentagon Wars by illegally discharged retired USAF Colonel James G. BURTON about the development of the M-2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
Col BURTON was brought to the M-2 project from the Air Force as a check and balance against “Crazy Shit.” As h worked on it, he noticed extensive issues. He tried to raise them via the appropriate chain of command; They shut him out. He finally drew Congress into the matter; The project managers (Major General PARTRIDGE was a composite character for the film, though the man himself may have existed per se) then tried to manipulate tests and test results. They were eventually caught; Col. BURTON was punished by a forced retirement for doing the RIGHT thing.
