The perfect stretching routine to get your splits and flexible hips ♡.
5 Steps for Performing Yoga Poses
Preparation Pose (Plank)
Lie face down with your hands on the floor under your shoulders.
Keep your body straight from head to heels. Engage your core and hold for five breaths.
Hip Twist - Push Forward
From the plank position, gently twist your hips and push your torso forward.
Create a smooth curve along your spine.
Shift Hips Backward
Push your hips back into Downward Dog pose, keeping your arms and legs straight.
Hold this position for five breaths, inhaling deeply and exhaling gently.
Lie on Your Back - Relaxation
Lie flat on your back and let your entire body relax on the mat.
Breathe deeply and release any tension.
Lift Legs Up (Candle Pose - Sarvangasana)
From lying down, lift both legs perpendicular to your body, supporting your hips with your hands.
Hold this pose for five breaths before lowering your legs back down.
This 5 minute yoga practice is the perfect way to increase your lower body flexibility and release any tension or stiffness out of your hamstrings and hips. Whether you are taking on the 14 day splits challenge or simply including this practice into your daily workout/personal yoga practice, this all levels yoga class for flexibility will give you all the benefits that you are looking for.
We tend to hold a lot of stress and emotional heaviness in the hip region of our bodies, especially the psoas muscles, so as we go deeper into each yoga posture in this hip opening yoga class, allow yourself to let go of any emotional stress and heaviness that you may feel. Don't hold anything back, simply let go and release all that no longer serves you.
