60-day long truce could be imminent in the Middle East | LBC
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has rejected reports from Reuters that he headed to Cairo for Gaza ceasefire talks, this morning.
It has been reported that a deal is expected to be signed in the coming days, according to sources briefed on the meetings.
However, the PM's spokesperson confirmed that: 'The prime minister is not in Cairo."
Instead, Mr Netanyahu visited Mount Hermon on the Syrian side of the border.
He said Israeli troops will occupy a buffer zone inside Syria for the foreseeable future - and 'until another arrangement is found that will ensure Israel's security'.
Hamas has said that a Gaza ceasefire deal is possible but only if Israel did not set new conditions.
The number of deaths in Gaza has surpassed 45,000 people this week, according to Palestinian health officials.
